Calendar

The calendar sits above the bookings list on the Bookings screen. The list is scoped to whatever month the calendar is showing, so moving through months filters both at once.

Reading it

Bookings are colored by space. Each space carries a calendar color set on its record, and a legend runs alongside the grid. This is why picking distinct colors when you set up your spaces matters — by August the calendar is the screen you look at most.

Setup and teardown appear as softer chips either side of the event itself. The hall being occupied from 8am for a 4pm wedding is visible without opening anything.

Recurring bookings show each occurrence separately. Twelve monthly meetings are twelve chips on twelve dates, all linking back to the one booking.

Cancelled bookings are hidden by default and do not participate in conflict detection.

Conflicts

When two bookings claim overlapping time in the same space, the calendar flags it. Conflicts are caught at build time on the booking form as well — see Bookings — but the calendar is where you notice the ones that came in through two different people on the same afternoon.

Conflict detection includes setup and teardown windows, which is where most genuine clashes happen: the event times do not overlap, but one group's teardown runs into the next group's setup.

Creating from the calendar

Dragging across empty dates starts a new booking with those dates pre-filled, at inquiry status. It is the fastest way to get a phone call onto the calendar before you have all the details.

Filtering

Filter the calendar and the list beneath it by space, status, and renter. Filtering by a single space is the quickest way to answer "is the arena free that weekend".
