Schedule

The schedule builder produces the printed-program grid: 10:00 Pig Races, Main Stage. 10:15 Wood Carver, Back 40.

The grid

Time down one axis, location across the other. Build a day by placing items into the grid and dragging to reorder.

Locations are your own — Main Stage, Show Ring, Back 40, Food Court, Kids' Tent.

Conflict flagging

Overlaps are flagged per location. Two things at once on the Main Stage is a problem; two things at once in two different places is a normal fair.

What goes on it

Anything the public should know is happening: entertainment acts, judging times, livestock shows, contests, the parade, the fireworks.

Publishing

Publish and the schedule appears on the event's public page.

Printing

The schedule prints in the program layout, which is what most fairs actually need — a grid somebody can fold into a pocket.

Building it

  • Start with the fixed points. Gate opening, judging times, the headline act, the fireworks. Everything else fills around them.
  • Watch the food court. Scheduling three things at once at noon means nobody sees any of them and the food vendors have a queue nobody leaves.
  • Publish late, print later. The schedule always changes. Publish once it is stable and send the printer the version after that.
